An innovative six-month program was implemented with three partners: Ukreate Hub (a civic platform in Lithuania), social incubator Domus Solis, and the Ukrainian Higher Folk School “Vovchok.” Seventy community leaders from Ukraine and Lithuania and their families attended the program, funded by the European program, the EEA, and Norway Grants.
The program aimed to build a deep sense of community among participants and provide practical knowledge and skills to create inclusive and resilient communities during conflict and crisis.
Key elements of the program included:
– Interactive online sessions: Participants participated in a series of online seminars to discuss key community development and leadership topics.
Study visits: Participants were invited to visit local Lithuanian communities and social incubators, where they gained practical experience and inspiration for developing their initiatives.
– 4-day training and simulation residencies: Participants took part in four-day residencies that included educational, motivational, and practical modules to build resilient communities during war and crisis.
The main topics of the program were:
– Creating safe spaces: Exploring the importance of creating “islands of sanity” as a key element for community resilience and sustainable development.
– Leadership and community development: Participants had the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and learn community development methodologies and innovative approaches such as service design.
Project management, pitching, and fundraising: The program provided practical knowledge in project management, improved pitching skills, and mastered fundraising.
Motivational meetings: Participants participated in motivational sessions that energized and inspired them to develop their communities further and maintain a common spirit.
This unique experience allowed the participants to expand their capabilities and establish sustainable ties between communities in Ukraine and Lithuania, which can effectively respond to today’s challenges.
